Gladys Louise Bittle, the daughter of William Pearl Bittle and Gladys Estis Bittle Reed was born July 31, 1938 in Birmingham, Alabama. Sister to four brothers, William Earl Bittle, Gary Lee Reed, Richard “Ricky” Lewis Reed, and Tommy Estis Reed.
Louise was united in holy matrimony to Jerrell Frank Latham June 24, 1953 in Birmingham Alabama. This union spanned 48 years until Jerrell’s death February 24, 2002. Their union was blessed with four children. A daughter Geraldine Latham who died shortly after birth, and three sons Jerry Earl (Tod) Latham, Michael Ray Latham, and Randy Frank Latham. The blessings of the Latham family brought with its future three daughter-in-laws. Norma Gonzalez wife of Jerry Earl (Tod) Latham, Darla Herring wife of Michael Ray Latham, Lisa Schoppe wife of Randy Frank Latham. Louise and Jerrell were blessed with six grandchildren Mitchell, Jerry, Michelle, Jessica, Lindsey, and Sheree and nine great grandchildren Tylen, Ashton, Macee, Gage, Hunter, Jordyn, Ava, Carson, and Kora Rose.
Jerrell and Louise were successful entrepreneurs and owned multiple businesses where Louise was instrumental in supporting her husband as a partner. Their dogged approach to success taught their sons to work hard, expect nothing they didn’t earn and be proud of their accomplishments. Family meant everything to the Latham’s. Christmas and Thanksgiving were the cherished holidays celebrated together and a time to be thankful for family. Louise felt her most important accomplishment in life was the love she shared and cherished with her parents, siblings, husbands, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Louise remarried October 15, 2006 Rickey Dale Granger of Cleveland, Texas. Rickey and Louise embarked on a life together that included the Latham and Granger families as well as many friends they made along their journey of their life together for the next 17 years. As a couple they spent a significant amount of their time dancing and spending time with close friends.
