Obituary for
Marian Margie Stoy (Solis)
Marian Margie Solis Stoy, a woman of boundless spirit and generosity, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on March 6, 2024. Margie's journey began when she so bravely emigrated to the United States at the tender age of 15 from Manila, Philippines, with the mission of bringing her entire family to the United States. Adapting to a new country, she embraced the challenges of Wisconsin’s harsh winter and began forging the strong friendships that lasted throughout her life.
Deviating from an established career in nursing, Margie pursued a career in medical technology, finding her calling in the laboratory setting. Her dedication and talent propelled her to become a respected young supervisor and a local town lab heroine, who often received police escorts to the hospital amid the heavy snow and ice. Later, her ambition and entrepreneurial spirit led her to found her own successful laboratory, Solis Medical Laboratory (SML) in Houston, Texas, which eventually became the premier lab service for psychiatric hospitals in the Houston area.
In 2004, she married the love of her life, Cleve Stoy, and together they shared a passion for music (the Beatles!), travel & adventure. Their partnership also extended to SML, and together they grew it until they retired in 2017. After 31 years of SML ownership, Margie embraced travel adventures worldwide. From London to Paris to Germany, she cherished moments with her family and friends. Building cabins on her daughter and son-in-law’s vineyard in North Carolina also became her golden years’ dream. When finally completed in December 2023 though, a suspect pain in Margie’s side really began to trouble her.
Margie's life was filled with so much love. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Crista, and stepdaughters, Jessica & Taylor. However, her most cherished role was that of “Lola” to granddaughters Carmen, Abigail, Emma, Annabelle & Edith. She was the best Lola ever.
Margie's legacy echoes through her generosity, legendary parties, and quiet strength. A beautiful soul, she shared her blessings and left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her strength, determination, and kindness will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Margie was not only a phenomenal woman and human being, but one of God’s best ever. Forever Rest in Peace…Margie, Mom, Wife, Lola…
