Obituary for Ray Denny

Ray Denny
Ray Stevenson Denny departed this life on March 23, 2024 at Houston Memorial Hermann Hospital Northeast in Humble, TX. “Steve,” as he was affectionately known, was born on June 17, 1954 in Bogalusa, Louisiana to the late Robert and Eliza Denney.

Steve moved from Varnado, Louisiana to New Orleans, Louisiana at an early age. He received his education in New Orleans Public Schools and graduated from George Washington Carver High School in 1974. Beginning in 1980, he started driving 18-wheeler trucks for many different companies; and as of April 2020 purchased his own big rig, a Kenworth T680, and started his own trucking company: Ray S Denny Trucking, LLC.

He loved cars, car shows, and the color red, but most of all, he loved to spend time with his family. Steve was a pillar for the entire Denney family, often being referenced as the link in the chain. Although he was originally from Louisiana, he also rooted his feet in Texas and carved a place for his immediate family, nurtured through hard work, dedication, and WD-40. His legacy will continue to inspire the Denney family for years to come.

Steve leaves to cherish his memory- his devoted wife of 47 years, Janice Denny; 3 sisters- Mildred and Antoinette Robinson, and Eller Rose Belton; 5 children – Raynell Lazier (Raun), Steven Denny, Carolyn Triray Henry, Bryant Denny, and Jasmirae Denny; 8 grandchildren – Jantrice Williams, Sekoi and Sekai Henry, Bryce Kyle, and Raun Levi, Raleigh, Reid, and Reagan Lazier; 3 great-grandchildren – Christopher, Jayden, and Triniece Sweat. He was dearly loved and cherished by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Eliza Denney, son Ray S. Denny Jr., daughter Trinisha Hightower; 6 brothers – James, Harry Lee, Robert Jr, George, David Ray, and William Denney, and 1 sister Delilah Denney.
